HCV Participant Information

  • Notifying the Housing Authority of Hartsville of changes in income: 
    Tenants must notify the Housing Authority of Hartsville of increases in income within ten (10) calendar days of the effective date of the increase. Tenants may report decreases in income and request an interim re-examination to adjust the rent. Tenants must fill out the “Requirements for Resident Requested Changes” form and provide all documentation as specified on the form.

  • Notifying the Housing Authority of Hartsville of changes in income: The Housing Authority of Hartsville is required to amend the lease when there are additions or deletions to the family composition. Tenants must fill out the required form and provide all documentation as specified on the form.

  • Housing Quality Standards Inspections: Once a unit is initially approved for participation in the program, the Housing Authority of Hartsville will conduct annual unit inspections for all units. An adult must be present to allow the inspection to take place!

  • Informal Hearings: An informal hearing is a hearing regarding a decision affecting a participating family in the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.   • Reasonable Accommodations: If you have any special needs or have family members with special needs, you may request reasonable accommodation in order to have equal access to the programs and services of the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.

  • Criminal Activity: The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) permits the Housing Authority to deny or terminate assistance to applicants and participants in the Housing Choice Voucher Program if any member of the family engages in drug-related or violent criminal activity. A criminal background check will be conducted on all family members, ages 18 and older, when entering the program and periodically throughout your participation in the program.
